FIRST U.S. MINT ISSUES... this section of the collection represents the first coin designs issued by the U.S. Mint..

"1793-Flowing Hair Design in Copper".. used on Large Cents.. represented by 1793 Large Cent in Good..

"1793-Liberty Cap Design in Copper".. used on Large and Half Cents.. rep is a 1795 Half Cent in Fine...

"1794 Flowing Hair Design in Silver".. used on first Half Dimes, Half Dollars, Silver Dollars.. rep 1795 Half Dollar in Fine..

"1795-Capped Liberty Design in Gold". used on Qtr Eagle - $2.50, Half Eagle - $5.00 and Eagle - $10.00 gold coins..  represented by a 1806 Half Eagle in XF (purchased from Silvertowne in 1979) ..

"1796 - Draped Bust Design in Silver".. used on all Silver coinage ..rep is a 1796 Dime ... .

"1796-Drapped Bust in Copper".. used on Half Cent and Large Cent.. rep is a 1798 Large Cent in fine.. this coin came from family holdings.. first family collector of U.S. coins was Great, Great, Grandfather Jankovsky, approx. 100 years ago...this collection of Large Cents in "Cigar boxes" was lost / sold / given away in the 1940's.

COIN DESIGNS - EARLY 1800's .. included within this series of regular U.S. coinage is:

"1807-Turban Head Design in Gold".. used on Qtr Eagle and Half Eagle.. rep is a 1809/8 Half Eagle in Choice VF (see photo, below.. acquired from Larry W. in 1980) ....

"1807-Capped Bust in Silver".. used on Half Dime, Dime, Qtr, and Half Dollar.. rep is 1830 Half Dollar in BU....

"1808-Classic Head Design on Copper".. used for both the Half Cent and Large Cent.. rep is a 1825 Half Cent in AU....

"1813-Capped Head in Gold".. used on Qtr Eagle and Half Eagle.. rep is a 1818 Half Eagle in AU (see photo, below right.. purchased from Leon in 1987)... these early gold coins are Rare but also extremely Beautiful... other designs in series are ...

 1816 Coronet Design in Copper... used on Large Cent as represented by a 1834 Large Cent in BU....

... most early U.S. silver and gold coins were overvalued, shipped over seas or melted thereby never in circulation .. production of the Silver Dollar ended in 1804. Around 1830 the size of coins were reduce which allowed them to begin to circulate ...

"1831-Capped Bust - Small Design in Silver"... used on both the Qtr and Half Dollar... rep is a 1834 Qtr in AU...

 "1834-Classic Head in Gold".. used on Quarter and Half Eagle.. rep is a 1834 Quarter Eagle in XF....

 "1840 Braided Hair Design".. used on Half Cent and Large Cent.. rep is a 1853 half cent in BU. Both Half Cents and Large Cents were phased out of Mint production in 1857.
