The family Makes came from Prague to the US in the 1900's. Frank's wife's family, the family Chochola, had establish a Bakery on Loomis in Chicago in about 1900.

Joseph Makes later established his own bakery in Chicago and then later in Cicero. The family retained the Bakery until the early 1950's and then retired in California.

The family Hovorka came to the United States in the early 1900's. The family was from the village of Vodanay in Bohemia. The family's history as "freeholders" in the area goes back to the 1500's but all the names are not known..
